Every day our foster carers look after local children who are unable to live with their birth families.
Liverpool City Council has responsibility for looking after over 800 children across the city who for many different reasons, are unable to live with their birth families. Every one of these children matters and we work hard to find loving families who are looking to foster a child. We want to give them opportunity to flourish and that is why we need foster carers with the passion and commitment to make a difference to a child’s life.
So who can be a foster carer (or foster parent, as this role has been called in the past)? Our foster families come from all walks of life. They reflect our children’s heritage, culture and ethnic backgrounds; they have great understanding of the importance of belonging so no child feels they are different.
Our looked after children have differing needs; from babies and toddlers who need plenty of time and attention, through to teenagers who need understanding and support to achieve their aspirations. We have many sibling groups who need foster carers with space to enable them to stay together.
That’s why we need your help. Our city needs more people to become foster carers. If you have a warm heart, the time and opportunity to devote to turning a local child’s life around then please get in touch and explore a career with Liverpool City Council.
